Sergio Agüero – playing him right!

This will be an article about prolific Manchester City-striker Sergio Agüero, and how to play him right. Loads of skill and talent is not always enough – you need to place him in the right spot, and use him the right way to enjoy his full potential.

Playing Agüero in your team is a gift. Whether you’re playing FIFA 12 Online Seasons or Ultimate Team, he is one of those players that makes the difference in the end. IF you use him wisely, that is.

I fielded SA in an online match for the first time yesterday. His skills were killing me; 92 dribbling, 88 finishing, 85 sprint speed and 91 acceleration. WOW! That guy could turn my opponent upside down and pave my way to the Online Seasons division 3 on the PS network.

Match underway, Bayern Munich the opponent. Agüero fell through from his striker position up front. Not much chances created, not many balls to work with, not very many completed dribbles.

I played a few more matches, and quickyly realized that Agüero harms my opponent the most, if he plays right behind the front striker. I placed him behind Dzeko/Tevez in a 4-3-1-2… Lethal! What a difference. He came into the right runs from behind, using the best of his pace and acceleration to seriously harm my opponents. Loads of goals, loads of assists. What a player.

Agüero needs space around to work well. He is not very good at running for the ball side-by-side a tough defender like the Munich CD’s. He needs to meet his opponent front-to-front, giving him every chance of approaching with a dribble and slide past the defender. In that position he’s almost second to none, and we’re almost talking up there besides Messi and Ronaldo.

I got the best of Agüero by releasing him from the role of striker and turning him into a lethal AMC. What’s your opinion? How do YOU get the most out of Agüero?
